The Fifth Commandment instructs, "Honor thy father and mother, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee."
Are there no stipulations, qualifications, and's, if's, or but's related to Judeo-Christian people following this Commandment? Is it to be, as with the other Commandments, followed to the letter? Certainly, in this day and age of enlightenment, there must be a means to qualify and stipulate whether this honor is warranted, but if there is not, then what price might a child pay for balancing this Commandment to his or her needs?
The Fifth Commandment tells a story of the consequences of failing to accept this Commandment as handed down by God and the impact of those consequences on society.Once again the author creates the threads of intrigue, murder, and deceit into the whole cloth of today's truths, realities, and conflicts conjured up by forces that would undermine the true understanding of life as set forth in the Ten Commandments by God.
